Today (thank God) was one of those days I enjoyed waking up. Normally I'd wake up to some commotion going on or I'd just not feel like waking up, but today I had a sense of excitement and thrill about carrying out my scheduled tasks. But then something happened....
I looked in the mirror... :S
For many people (unless you are divinely gorgeous) your 'morning face' as they put it, isn't the best thing to look at lol. I actually kind of scared myself a bit and if I didn't know better I would have had to ask "who is this?" Now stick with me here I'm going somewhere with this. Honestly I would rather look at myself and see my 'morning face' than to have a stranger see it and go tell people about it or worst yet, take a photo of it. :-o
So my question to us today (yes including myself) is: How closely do we really look at ourselves in the mirror? When is the last time that we were truely honest with ourselves? (I know that was more than one question) But have you ever seen a baby and at first sight you knew it was ugly (honestly speaking) and the mother is like "O my baby is so pretty, she looks like her dad" (lol, that's probaly why she said she looks like her dad) Have you ever seen that? Now in those cases it is understadable to say the child is pretty but we as adults say that about ourselves sometimes when we know down right that our lives are uglyyy and I mean hideous!!
One of the things we need to keep daily, is a constant awareness of who we really "are" and not necessarily who we "want" to be! It's all good and dandy to think of the future but you will not get there unless you know where you are at present!!!! So I've got a little experiment for us:
- Get a mirror or stand in front of one
- Look at yourself, follow the curvature of your face, see your facial marks etc.
- Take a good look at who you really are and what you really look like
- Now think of your life and ask yourself 'who am I?' each time you do
- Think of your attitude, relationships, talents, and all the areas you could think off.
- At this point accept what "is" This is not the place to condemn or praise yourself but the place to take mental note of who you are.
After completing this exercise I"m sure you are now in a greater realization of yourself. As God would say, judge yourself before He has to or someone else does.
And, YES, I've done this and many times. It has helped me alot! Getting to know who you are, what you do and accepting what "is" will help you on your quest to moving on from glory to glory.
Ahhh.. so this is my two cents for today. Hope it was interesting enough to read and try out. :)

Yup self reflection is a must, you should enjoy viewing yourself, your life and your purpose in the mirror. Try the steps, take a mirror, sit with an open mind and go "dam i'm gorgeous" not only would you be able to view your life, you would build self esteem and more so be truthful to your self.... after all "being somebody else. trying to live like somebody else or doing what people do is a totally waste of being you"
ReplyDeleteI have gotten in the habit of looking at myself every morning in the mirror and making judgements on myself. It is not always the best thoughts and at times I may find myself wishing for changes in different areas but after closing my eyes for a few seconds to thank God for his creation, I open my eyes with a greater appreciation for all my flaws and flawlessness. I am me. I am who I am. I love me and that is what will be seen by the people I attract. Love who yo are, accept who you are and you will see how easy the flaws you notice is what will make you unique and special to the world out there.
